Retired Instructors Personnel and Spouses (RIPS)

Overview

Welcome to the RIPS web page! RIPS provides opportunities for UNT retirees and their spouses to maintain a connection to their university and to spend fun time with other retirees and spouses.

Purpose

RIPS is a nonprofit entity established in the early 1980s with the following goals:

  1. Promote social events that provide fellowship opportunities for retirees and activities that further the University's well-being.
  2. Encourage active participation of retirees in the life of the University.
  3. Seek educational opportunities and privileges.
  4. Disseminate relevant information to retirees.

Membership

If you are a retired instructor, member of the personnel or spouse of any of these, you are eligible and welcomed to join RIPS  The organization provides social interaction and fellowship opportunities for retirees and activities that further the University’s well-being; encourages active participation of retirees in the life of the University; seeks educational opportunities for retirees; and promotes retiree benefits and privileges.

RIPS is affiliated with the UNT Emeritus College which generously provides support for this web site and for RIPS programs.

Programs

RIPS has traditionally sponsored several events during the year. The UNT Advancement Office, the Center for Achievement and Lifelong Learning, and Colleges and Departments are all helpful in cosponsoring events. The RIPS Events page provides information about coming RIPS programs.

Parking and Other Benefits

A free full-time parking permit which is good for the fiscal year allows the retiree to park in any PC, GC, or D lot on campus except dormitory and reserved lots.  One may also park in visitors’ spots.  You may obtain a parking decal at the new parking garage at Ave. A and Highland using the Ave. A entrance. You will need your retiree I.D. card.

Retirees will receive one free season ticket to all UNT Mean Green home football and basket ball games each year. 

Retirees age 65 and older may audit courses offered by UNT without charge provided space is available and with the consent of the instructor.
