The Dalmatian Coast (Croatia): June 1-8, September 21-28, or October 5-12, 2013
**This Wayfarers' Walking Tour is rated Level 2
Croatia's beautiful walled city, Dubrovnik, is the starting point for this journey through one of Europe's most diverse and beautiful countries. As we travel northwards, our path takes us through cypress woods, along coastal headlands and rural tracks, into dramatic gorges and along rambling streets. The sparkling sea views and sleepy harbor villages, with their milk-white limestone buildings, are the perfect environment for the steady pace of life and relaxed café culture. It becomes apparent that Croatia is still the authentic and uncommercialized Mediterranean associated with a bygone era. We also gain an insight into the break up of Yugoslavia and spend time in places which were directly affected by the early 1990's war as well as driving through the neighboring coast of Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Jane Austen Country (England): June 16-22 or October 6-12, 2013
**This Wayfarers' Walking Tour is rated Level 1
One of English literature's best loved authors, Jane Austen, wittily observed preindustrial English society from a sheltered and gentrified family life in Hampshire. The literary walk of her lifetime takes us to many of her haunts, including the village of Steventon where her father was Rector, and the gentle rolling countryside that forms the backdrop to much of her work. A walk through rich meadows and snug valleys, handsome estates and civilized landscapes intersperses two visits to Chawton, where Jane moved at the age of 33, and a talk and discussion with a Jane Austen expert. These take us on paths she probably used passing timeless cottages she would have known. The week closes in Winchester, once capital of the ancient kingdom of Wessex, where Jane is buried in the ancient cathedral.
